Speil Macht Frei …very civic and public yearnings - the notion that an 'emergent democracy' might come to fruition, through some orchestration of the many articulate voices now expressing themselves through social software, like blogging and affinity networks, Wikipedia and open source. I very much hope that the rhetorics and justifications for more playful forms of life outlined by this book are taken up by these digital constituencies, and 'hacked' into better, worse or at least more interesting shapes by their passionate engagements. 'We are an enterprise of mortals, disdaining to protect ourselves against surprise; living in the strength of our vision, we eschew power and make joyous play of boundaries.'
